There are 2 daily connections with Gran Canaria. The ship goes by at La Gomera in some routes, so, it is possible to combine the visit to both Islands.. The two companies that do the service are Fred Olsen and Naviera Armas

Personalized advising is made: places to visit, restaurants, diving companies, real roads for senderismo, tourist routes, etc.
The building, located at the northwest of the island, dates from the beginning of the XIXth century and there are 2 floors: the 1st one where there the bath, the lounge - dining room and the kitchen are; the 2nd one with a corridor and 2 double rooms.. In the outside there is a small "patio" called "La Estancia" (in that place an ancient meeting of relatives and neighbours after the farming used to take place) that ends in a garden of 100 m2, the islands of La Gomera and Tenerife, with its majestic giant "Teide", can be seen from that spot.
The house presents traditional structure from El Hierro: two slopes roofs formed by beams of wood and French tile, walls of dry stone of variable thickness (0,70 m to 1,6 m). This jewel is fitted in an architectonic set in phase of rehabilitation and that will finally have 5 rural houses..
In spite of having only 272 Km2, the Island of the Meridian possesses a great quantity and variety of places to visit. But mainly, it stands out for its sceneries, its well preserved ecosystems and their natural beauties, in addition to the hospitality and the affection that their inhabitants offer to the foreigner.
It is possible to come to El Hierro, both by plane and by ship:
by plane: by means of 3 daily connections with Tenerife and weekly with Gran Canaria and La Palma
by ship: 2 connections a day (4 hours trip)
I advise the combination plane- ship: it is an unforgettable experience and you turn part of your vacations into a minicruise.
The shortest way is of going out of the airport or Puerto de La Estaca, taking the old road of Valverde to Frontera going through Tiñor, getting at the roundabout of El Majano
Here we take the left side, arriving first at the country houses of La Cuesta and later at Isora
Opposite the first house that we find to the right hand (Isora´s hairdresser´s shop), there is a bus stop. This one is the point of meeting
The long way is that once we come to Valverde, we take towards El Mocanal, then Erese, Guarazoca up to San Andrés
Here we turn to the left side up to the roundabout of El Majano, which we take to the right hand and continue (ditto the previous one)

Si estais buscando una casita preciosa, acogedora, totalmente equipada, en la isla de El Hierro esta es una buena opción. La casa es muy confortable, decorada con un gusto exquisito y con detalles arquitectonicos que reflejan la construcción tradicial de la isla, el paisaje es único, la zona es muy tranquila y de fácil acceso. La casa está situada en un lugar muy tranquilo algo escondido. En lo positivo hay que destacar la amabilidad del dueño, la restauración de la casa con unos detalles muy cálidos,la limpieza y el trámite de alquiler del coche desde el aeropuerto.En lo negativo; la calefacción.El tiraje de la estufa no está resuelto.Por los empalmes se escapa el humo que llega a la habitación superior. Magnífica casa rural para descansar. Encontramos lo que esperábamos, una casa muy acogedora y un sitio muy tranquilo. El dueño de la casa siempre está dispuesto a orientar y asesorar. En cuanto a la Isla, aunque ya la conocíamos, siempre nos sorprende con su encanto y tranquilidad. Repetiremos.
Es difícil encontrar un lugar donde desconectar del trajín diario y disfrutar plenamente de la tranquilidad mejor que el que nos ofrece la isla de El Hierro. Si a esto unimos un alojamiento encantador, que dispone de todas las comodidades pero a su vez te permite trasladarte por momentos a otra época el resultado es sencillamente fantástico. Gracias Enrique por tus recomendaciones para hacer nuestra estancia inolvidable.

"El Hierro 100 % renewable energies", that tries to convert the Island into an entity independent from energy pollutants based on the construction of an hidroeolic power station, whose first phase is being executed with a budget of 1.000 millions of the old pesetas
"The Hidrobus", project executed with European funds and that consists of the construction of a hidrogenera (a type of producing gas station of liquid hydrogen through renewable energies), used for producing the fuel that will be used by the buses of the public transport
