Casas Cueva Al-Axara are made up of three full rental accommodations:
Casa Cueva Al- Axara sleeps 6/7 people. It has two floors. On the first floor, we find the lounge with a fireplace and the 40 sq metre kitchen-dining room, which has preserved the original mangers, and is fully equipped. On the same floor, there are 3 bedrooms, two with a double bed and the other that can be used as a bedroom or a leisure/sitting-room. On the second floor, there is a bedroom with two single beds and a bathroom that has a large size bath tub which has been built taking advantage of the cavity in the rock.
Casa Cueva El Jaraíz sleeps 2/4 people. It has three floors. On the first floor is the lounge-dining room with a fireplace, the kitchen and a room where originally the wine was made (jaraíz). Now, there is a double bed. On the top floor, there is a double room, a bathroom with a shower, which has been excavated into the rock and a landing. Above this, there is a 25 square metre terrace with excellent views of the river and a shower to cool off on those hot summer days.
All the rooms, without exception, in both houses include a large part of the rocky stone wall. The decoration combines Moorish features with antiques, design and ethnic pieces of furniture.
The Cave-House El Hamman sleeps 6 people. It has been decorated in an Moorish Nazari style with plasterwork and handmade tiles which have been exclusively designed for the accommodation, as well as its mixture of antique and Moroccan design furniture. It has a “hamman” (arab bath) which has been excavated into the rock, with hydrotherapy water jets. There are 3 double rooms (2 with double beds and another with twin 90 cm beds), a lounge-dining room with a fireplace and a fully equipped kitchen.
Services: shared telephone and the possibility of Internet access.
Animals are allowed by prior consultation with the owner.
The house has been classified as a "unique rural accommodation" given that it is a typical cave-house in the area.
In the middle of the ox-bows, on the river Jucar, in the Albacete district of Manchuela, we have restored three cave-houses preserving the original structure and the traditional features (wine press, mangers, hollows, etc), so that we can offer it to you for the perfect holiday.
Just a short distance from Madrid, Valencia, Alicante and Murcia and only 36 km from Albacete, you will discover a peaceful setting, practically unknown but with unbeatable beauty.
But it is those keen on nature who will benefit the most from this oasis, and it is no wonder that the Manchuela is known as the Manchego of Mesopotamia. Clear crystalline rivers, canyons and rocky crags, home to the golden eagle, exclusive flora to these parts, areas of great scenic beauty...
The location for this accommodation, in a narrow canyon sculptured by the river Jucar, provides the ideal microclimate in winter with very mild temperatures. We can see prickly pear cactus bushes, fig trees, pomegranate trees, khaki plants, bay trees, orange groves and other typical flora from this latitude. The constant temperature within the caves, around 20º, provides our guests with all the necessary comfort.
We have made houses which open up to the sun, alive and healthy, providing the perfect refuge during your stay. The colourful decoration is based upon the blending together of different cultures and the culmination of antiques with modern designs.
We strongly advise that you allow yourself to be absorbed by all the charm of this troglodyte accommodation.
