Casa Sastre-Segui (which still has the old stables, barn, an oven, originally used for baking bread), also still preserves a large part of the furniture of centuries ago, and the owners have known how to combine this with more modern comfortable installations (bathrooms, for example) with the aim of making their guests feel totally at home.
There are also several indoor patios, a lounge with a fireplace, TV, DVD and barbecue
One of the key features of this accommodation is the decoration of some of its rooms, with its contrast of antique furniture and old beams and the bright colours (red, blue, etc.) with which the walls have been painted. The kitchen, with its large fireplace and high ceilings, is particularly attractive and is fully equipped
The house offers magnificent views of the whole of Vall de Gallinera
There are 5 large bedrooms , each one totally different, some with a complete bathroom , while others, so as not to alter the original structure, have their bathroom outside the room.
Casa Sastre-Segui is a large house that was built in 1830 in the very centre of Patró (or Alpatró), one of the eight small villages that make up the municipality of Vall de Gallinera.
The owners are the family that inherited this interesting house from its founders, and they have known how to restore it with all the patience and care in the world and with a lot of taste, meticulously preserving its unique features. Casa Sastre-Segui was once the home of a family of farmers wishing to protect themselves from roaming bandits, who during those years hid themselves away among the abrupt mountain ranges of the district of La Marina. Therefore, the large country house was fortified, and one can highlight a small watchtower on its main facade, on the second floor.. This is a large stone construction with embrasures that enable them to watch the streets and even use a harquebus, catapult or rifle.. Also, within the four-storey house you can still see several holes strategically placed to observe the outside from several rooms.
Given that it was a farmhouse, large areas were destined to the storing of products, from cereal crops to carob beans, almonds and olives. Casa Sastre-Segui also had an "almassera" (oil mill), destined to the home production of olive oil, and still today, we have preserved two of the presses used for this task, as well as other utensils and traditional farming tools.
CASA SASTRE-SEGUI IS RENTED AS A WHOLE AND ALSO PER ROOM

Interesting Places
The owners will gladly provide guests with interesting excursions, both around the actual Vall de Gallinera and also other enchanting surrounding valleys (Vall d´Alcala, Vall de Laguar, Vall de Pop, etc.) La Vall de Gallinera still preserves a part of the centuries of the Moorish presence in the area, which were arbitrarily and unfairly expelled from Spain in 1609. This picturesque valley remained almost uninhabited, but you can still find remnants of those centuries in its castles and fortresses, the stepped slopes, the small vegetable gardens and the urban distribution of the monumental centres of some small villages that still preserve their Arabic toponymy: Benialí (home of the Vall de Gallinera Town Hall), Benirrama, Benitalia, Benissivà, Benissili, Alpatró, etc.
The advantage of the Sastre-Segui rural house is that it is situated in the heart of the Vall de Gallinera, surrounded by rugged mountains , but at the same time just half an hour away from the magnificent beaches and coves of Marina Alta
From Valencia, you can reach Vall de Gallinera by leaving the motorway or the N-332 at Oliva, and carry on towards Pego, the entrance to this beautiful picturesque valley.
From Alicante, where we recommend you leave the A-7 or N-332 at Ondara, you carry on towards Pego, and from there along the CV-700 towards Alpatró
