After carrying out respectful restoration work in which both ancient materials and techniques were used, we managed to transform what had once been a traditional Verata house, over a century old and which is today the rural house Atuvera.
It is located on the La Cornocosa land, which covers a total surface area of 100,000 m2 in the Caceres municipality of Villanueva de la Vera, surrounded by numerous fruit trees, water and forests. Nearby, we find the archaeological remains of the Tartesa necropolis of Pajares.
Our accommodation includes, 5 double rooms and one single , all with a complete ensuite bathroom. Five of the rooms have air conditioning, while others are perfectly suitable for the disabled with a whirlpool bath. With the aim of facilitating the access to the rooms, the house has a ramp with only a 6 % slope .
The ground floor offers a bright and large lounge, equipped with everything you need (a fireplace, television, video, DVD, hi-fi, suggestive furniture, comfortable armchairs...), a large room which is the ideal place to relax after a long day, or chat with a nice group of friends, and also for any group activities, courses, seminars and all kinds of meetings.
A large outdoor area with permanent shade, spacious gardens , two terraces, a comfortable and large front terrace, an open air explanade-amphitheatre and plenty of nature, are just a view of our attractions.
Our house is therefore ideal for romantic escapes and family reunions .
THE HOUSE CAN ALSO BE RENTED PER ROOM WITH THE USE OF A KITCHEN IF AVAILABLE AND IF YOU CALL ON THE DAY BEFORE YOUR ARRIVAL
Activities
Hiking . In the surrounding area, there are some very interesting routes with different levels of difficulty, although they do not require any special physical training. To make everything more comfortable guests have the possibility of hiring a guide.
Mountain bikes . If you prefer to roam the area on two wheels and at the same time do some exercise, we can provide you with our bike rental service and, of course, all the necessary information and cartography. But if you what you want is to discover hidden corners, then there is nothing better than letting yourself go with a specialised guide.
Astronomical nights : When the night sky is clear, La Vera takes on a very special charm when you are able to observe the infinite number of stars overhead, something in itself quite magnificent. That is why we suggest that you stand behind our telescope lense and enjoy both the firmament and a delightful evening.
Courses . The installations of Atuvera are always available to hold all kinds of courses and group activities: everything from getting to know our biological vegetable garden, to the observation of the abundant surrounding flora and fauna, or why not carry out a seminar on renewable energies.. Everything is possible at Atuvera.

La Vera, the district.
At Atuvera we are aware that our surrounding area is also our greatest treasure, and this is something that constantly encourages us to improve and makes us rise to the occasion.
We are not exaggerating when we say that anyone who visits the district of La Vera, still unknown to many, will be surprised by the show of nature. Situated only two hours from Madrid (185 km), between the foothills of the southern part of the Gredos Mountains and the River Tiétar, it enjoys a microclimate which is characterised by its very mild winters and autumns, and with around 2,000 hours of sunshine each year. The huge quantity of water that irrigates the area does the rest.. Thanks to this excellent combination, La Vera houses an abundant and extensive flora, as well as a significant variety of fauna.
The large quantity of gorges, small waterfalls and rivers, with many areas ideal for swimming in its natural pools, found practically in every municipality, make this district one of the most visited in Extremadura.
Fortunately, when one refers to the artistic treasures, La Vera has nothing to envy. Because of the architectural treasures that it houses, five of its villages have been officially declared of historical and artistic interest; in the nearby municipality of Cuacos, the Yuste monastery is a place which you must not miss...
Our rural house is also an unbeatable point of departure for some very interesting excursions. Among them, we advise that you visit the Celtic fort of El Raso, the Jerte Valley, the monumental town of Plasencia, the Monfragüe Nature Reserve, the Guadalupe sanctuary or the always surprising city of Cáceres, declared a Universal Heritage City by UNESCO.

From the CN - V Madrid to Lisbon road, at km 148, take the exit towards Madrigal de la Vera, and when you get to this village, turn left towards Plasencia
When you get to km 73, and 250 m after the petrol station you will see the signs for the Atuvera rural house.
You turn left onto the Vega de la Barca road and after a 500 m straight, you turn right onto a country lane.
Here you follow the signs which lead to the house, after 2.5 km
