Casa do Concello is set in the small village of Arnado in the El Bierzo district of León. It is an old farmhouse, around 120 years old, which has been restored preserving, as far as possible, the original structure and materials (walls, roof, chestnut wood floors, niches, etc.) The front of the house used to witness the public council meeting, which is where it gets its name.
The adjoining building is an ancient chapel, with almost 400 years of history, which has been converted into a “lareira” (the place where we have the firewood oven or lar), where you can roast pork or have a “magosto” (roast chestnuts) or simply sit and have a nice conversation around the fire. There is also a porch or “sobeira” with a large table and two benches where you can enjoy your lunch or dinner.
If you like nature then this is the ideal house for you. It is situated in a natural setting of extraordinary beauty. When you get up in the morning you can hear the sound of the river as it flows through the village, the singing of the birds, you can see the sunrise coming over the mountains and if we look out onto the wooden veranda we can gaze at the Selmo Valley; it is absolutely amazing, so much tranquillity and so much peace and quiet...
The village of Arnado is located on a mountain slope and has the strange shape of a half moon. In Arnado, the visitor can delight in the contact with nature at its best, as well as admire the traditional architecture and the hospitality of the local folk.
Activities
The wonderful scenery of the area of Arnado is the ideal setting for hiking and photography.
Nearby fishing preserves: the village is surrounded, on the one side by a stream and on the other by the River Selmo (a trout river par excellence)
You can go mushroom collecting, and in the months of October and November go chestnut collecting
Hunting, etc.
The Arroyo Rebolo - Montouto Route : this route is fascinating and allows the hikers to discover the beautiful scenery. This is an ancient path for carts which runs along the Rebolo stream as far as its source; and the route leads to the Motouto Peak (1,600 m.) which divides León, Lugo and Orense

We have been in the casa rural of Anna & Eladio - you can say its back to nature and back to the past - the casa rural is in a wonderful location in the mountains about 1 hr from Ponferrada , a paradice for walking - ralaxing and silence - there are only a few people living in the village but they accept you from the first moment and invite you to have a drink of offer you products of the garden.

Un grupo de amigos frecuentamos casas rurales y hay que decir que la casa esta bien, por encima de la media, pero tiene, a mi parecer, diversas carencias que la hacen bajar puntos. Me parece de lo mas incomodo (y mas en epoca de frio) que para pasar del salon-cocina a las habitaciones haya q salir a la calle (tampoco es q sea puerta con puerta). La lareira es otro habitaculo aparte mas separado aun... el cual ya ni usamos...... Por lo demas bien, la zona es encantadora y la gente del lugar muy

Owner’s reply Quiero pedir disculpas a Julian y sus amigos en lo que se refiere a que no hayan encontrado la casa en perfecto estado de limpieza. No se muy bien a que se refieren, porque normalmente le pago a una persona para que limpie la casa y la reviso yo personalmente antes de que entren los nuevos clientes, en esta ocasión no ha sido así. En cuanto al 50% de reserva hemos comenzado a cobrarlo este año, solamente en fechas muy señaladas para evitar malas experiencias que hemos tenido, el resto de fechas ... more
A parte de lo comentado anteriormente, recomiendo esta estupenda casa, a aquellas personas que disfruten de la naturaleza y la más absoluta tranquilidad, en un entorno rural como pocos he visto, con un encanto a prueba de bombas, y con unas gentes (gracias Abel) que echas de menos cuando vuelves a la gran ciudad. Avisamos que si quereis hacer visitas por la zona, tengais en cuenta que hay 45 minutos de carretera de montaña hasta salir a la nacional (1 hora a Ponferrada), pero merece la pena por

Rincón muy recomendable para quienes quieran descansar y desconectar del ajetreado mundo de las ciudades. El pueblo y los paisajes se mantienen vírgenes, los lugareños son amables y serviciales, humildes y con ganas de entablar conversación.
La casa tiene todas las comodidades y una decoración muy propia, mucha limpieza que yo es de lo que más valoro, y cuenta con una Lareira que permite disfrutar de buenas charlar alrededor de un buen fuego.

Nuestra estancia de dos semanas ha sido inolvidable para toda la familia, incluida nuestra perra "Kayla", que tan buenas migas hizo con sus nuevos amigos de cuatro patas. Muchas gracias a Ana por su amabilidad, así como al Sr. Abel y a los vecinos de este pueblo encantador, por compartir con nosotros esas píldoras de sabiduría que en la vida actual resultan tan escasas.
Tampoco olvidadmos a la simpática lechuza que cada noche nos visitaba para saludarnos desde el castaño frente a la casa.
