The owner´s comments
Balcones de Oleana is a centuries old historic rural villa, located in San Antonio de Requena, in the Valencia region.
This beautiful building was once a traditional home to farmers, their families and staff. We have lovingly restored the house to its former glory adding some enhancements to ensure a pleasurable and comfortable stay, whilst maintaining the charming elements of its original construction, such as solid wooden beams, wrought iron work and the numerous balconies and French windows, which make it a bright and cosy stately home. In bygone days it was possible to see the banks of the river Magro, formerly known as “Oleana”, from which the name of the house is derived.
Balcones de Oleana is the perfect location for a group of friends, families with children as well as corporate hospitality.
Activities
Laura and Miguel Ángel, owners of Balcones de Oleana, descend from generations of wine-growers and are themselves vineyard owners, making this house the ideal place for lovers of wine-tourism. We invite you to go for walks in our vineyards whilst we tell you about the work in the vineyards and the lifecycle of the vines. You can also learn about the production of wine in different wineries, enjoy a guided wine tasting of Utiel-Requena wines and relax with a wine-therapy massage.
If you wish to experience the perfect marriage between the wine and gastronomy of this region, you can make a tasty barbeque at Balcones de Oleana, and sample the excellent local fresh food.
We can also arrange further activities for you such as cultural visits to the old town of Requena, a visit to the Iberian ruins, adventure sports in the rivers Cabriel and Júcar; flying lessons, horse-riding classes, thermal baths, golf, etc.
Interesting Places
San Antonio de Requena, with some 2,000 inhabitants, is a quaint village located in the centre of a historic region dedicated to the production of wine, only 6 Km from the two main cities of Requena and Utiel.
The village has very good communication links; it can be reached by road (A3 - Junctions 281 and 285); there is a train station and a bus station and soon it will be one of the stops of the high-speed AVE train, which will join Madrid with Valencia.
Points of interest:
- Valencia Airport: 65 km.
- Cheste Racing Circuit: 45 km.
- Castellón: 140 km.
- Alicante: 240 km.
- Benidorm: 200 km.
- Madrid: 280 km.
San Antonio is a tranquil place that offers all of the necessary services for the visitor (restaurants, supermarkets, pharmacy, banks with cash machines, bakers, children’s playground, swimming pool, pubs...). Balcones de Oleana is well-located in the village and is easily reachable via the N-III road.
Utiel-Requena has many touristic areas and offers many attractions linked to wine culture. We recommend that you visit the historic old town of Requena, home of the underground caves; the Sanctuary of Our Lady Virgen Del Remedio in Utiel (1,000 metres above sea level) and the many wineries that produce high-quality wine and cava. You will enjoy sampling the culinary delights that this region has to offer, such as the cured meats (embutidos); patisserie speciality el bollo; the alajú –sweet of Arab origin-; or traditional dishes such as morteruelo; gazpachos; ajoarriero and paella.

Recomend
