Interesting Places
To get to know the village, there is nothing better than to come to the "moza de ánimas" festival, where a woman goes around the village ringing a bell and singing a prayer for those departed, stopping at each corner to pray
A climb on foot to the top of the Peña de Francia peak is quite spectacular, and will take around three hours, along forest paths that go around the mountain, through farms, pine woods, streams (ask at the house for information on the climb)
You must go down to Batuecas, by driving down to the river and then "lose" yourself downstream among the abounding vegetation of strawberry trees, hazel trees, yew trees, oak trees, Viburnum tinus shrubs... visit the prehistoric paintings and meet up with Spanish goats, golden eagles, deer...
From Salamanca follow the 512 minor road going through Vecinos and Tamames until you get to La Alberca.
From Madrid you can get to Salamanca along the La Coruña road and exit at Sanchidrián and from there to Salamanca.
From Cáceres go through the Hurdes, travelling through Pinofranqueado, Vegas de Coria until you get to the Las Mestas crossing and from there through the Batuecas until you get to La Alberca.

Hicimos buenas piernas subiendo y bajando escaleras. La recomiendo.
