The rural hotel Tamahuche is located on a wonderful enclave on the north of La Gomera island. Its is a manor house built in 1896, carefully restored using noble materials and perfectly integrated in the natural surroundings.
The Rural Hotel Tamahuche is located in the heart of Vallehermoso with easy access to the Garajonay National Park; a great place for the practice of trekking. It is also an ideal place to learn about the culture and traditions of La Gomera or to just enjoy a quiet and restful time.
Do to our compromise with the environment we have adopted a policy of quality, sustainability and respect that has allowed us to join the ECORED group. The hotel has 10 double rooms that maintain the traditional stile of the manor.. They have been carefully decorated, keeping the traditional ethnographical elements.
The disposition of our rooms, with direct access to the patios, terraces and gardens, offers an intimate ambiance where you can enjoy the beautiful nature of La Gomera. All the rooms are equipped with bathroom, safe box, television and optional mini bar.
Activities
Our personal, who have a deep knowledge of the island, will be happy to help you prepare visits and excursions. Also, if you are interested in the traditional ceramics of La Gomera, the making of traditional musical instruments, the local culture or the natural environment please feel free to tell us and we will be happy to provide you with an informative dossier or, if the occasion arises, prepare an activity or visit that will satisfy your interest.
We have a small, but carefully selected, library with excellent books about the Canary Islands, a solarium and a hall/cafeteria. Also, the free Internet service and fax will allow you to keep in touch with the rest of the world.
Interesting Places
Vallehermono is located under Roque Cano, a natural monument symbol of the municipality and of out hotel. In the town centre you can find all types of services and amenities; shops, supermarkets, banks, doctors, taxis, restaurans, etc. We recomend places of special interest such as:
The marine park, where you can enjoy swiming in an excelent salt water swimming pool next to Vallehermoso´s beach.
The Botanical Garden
The Sea Castle, a beautiful cafeteria with live music and other cultural events.
The Amaya Restaurant and the Tasca Agana for good local cuisine at reasonable prices
Vallehermoso´s natural surrondings include about one third of the Garajonay National Park, an excelent place for trekking, to learn about the island´s natual enviroment, rich in endemic species, or to enjoy the tranquility of its rural atmosphere.
Finally, you can marvel with the ancient culture of the island through is traditional pottery, made using the wheel-less Guanche technique, or by listening to the traditional music performed with choirs, tambores (drums) and chacaras (castanets).
The usual way to reach the island of La Gomera is by ferry from Tenerife.. There are three ferry lines between Los Cristianos in Tenerife and San Sebastian de La Gomera that provide an extensive service through out the day.. The trip last between 40 minutes to one and a half hours depending on the type of ship.. There is also regular air service between Tenerife and La Gomera.
Once in La Gomera, regular bus service is available between San Sebastian de La Gomera and Vallehermoso. If you prefer, there is also the possibility of renting a car from one of the three available companies at San Sebastian’s harbor. Finally, you also have the possibility of going by taxi which cost approximately 50€.
To reach Vallehermoso from San Sebastian you have to take the road leading to the north. Approximately 20 Km from San Sebastian you will find the town of Hemigua, followed by the town of Agulo and Las Rosas before reaching Vallehermoso. Once in Vallehermoso´s main square you take the street leading to the right and 100m ahead you will find the our hotel.
