This is an old family house, built in the typical traditional architecture of the area , dating back to around 1920, and renovated in 2004.. It is situated in the main square of the village and has 4 rooms, all double and two with an extra bed. Each room has an en-suite bathroom and the house also has a lounge with a fireplace and large dining room.
The house also includes a television in each room, a TV and DVD in the lounge, Internet connection, heating, air conditioning, hairdryer...
We are very close to the Vera district, which has many bathing areas.
Activities
Leading off from our house, there are a number of hiking or bicycle routes which can be found in the tourism information brochures. These routes offer you the possibility of seeing everything from a reservoir with a lot of bird life, to a Roman bridge or visiting a church and Moorish ruins
Interesting Places
The village has a population of around 400 and is situated in the Campo Arañuelo district, a predominantly agricultural and cattle farming area, where the cereal crops mix in with fields of Holm oaks, with the Gredos Mountains in the background and only half an hour from the towns of Talavera, Candeleda or Madrigal de la Vera
Its strategic location places it in the middle of three provinces: Ávila, Cáceres and Toledo which makes it ideal to visit many different places of interest in a very short time and with relatively short distances
The South of Gredos: half an hour away by car (30-35 km.) is where we find the villages of the Vera District, Madrigal and Candeleda, as well as the River Tietar Valley and the Rosarito reservoir
The Vera District: with its numerous bathing areas of natural pools at the foot of the mountain gorges
El Tajo: runs through nearby towns and villages, Talavera de la Reina (25 km away), the Puente del Arzobispo (17 km. away), as well as the villages of Calera and Chozas, the start of the Green Vía Verde de la Jara route. This route follows an old railway route, which was never completed and which runs through fields and crops, going through tunnels and viaducts over the River Tajo.. It has been specially prepared and signposted for hiking and bicycles
Oropesa and its surrounding areas: Oropesa is only 7 km. away, a medieval town with its castle, churches and convents, its stone walls and gateway, passageways and arches...
There are other places to visit such as Lagartera (9 km. away) famous for its embroidery, La Calzada de Oropesa (19 km. away) where you will find an altarpiece with paintings by Claudio Coello in the Ntra. Sra. De la Asunción Church, Torralba (5 km. away) with its animal statues, apparently of a Celtic origin and which are called "verracos", etc.
La Aldaba is located in the main square of the village of Alcañizo (Toledo)
To reach us from Madrid, follow the Extremadura Motorway as far as km. 142, then turn off towards Alcañizo and three kilometres further on you will come to the village. If you continue along this road, without turning off, you come to the Main Square, and the end of your journey

Reservamos la casa completa para el fin de año del 2007. Todo fué perfecto.. Las habitaciones son amplias y muy confortables. El equipamiento de la cocina, la vajilla y cristalería muy completos. Un horno, un tostador y una cafetera profesionales. La calefacción de la casa fue perfecta y, aun así, cuando pedimos leña para la chimenea (sólo para crear ambiente) nos la facilitaron sin ningún problema. Una casa estupenda. Apenas pasamos una noche en ella, pero fue suficiente para sentirnos como en casa... ¿de quién? Nos abrió la puerta una señora muy amable. Con los dueños madrileños bastó el teléfono. La casa estaba muy limpia y cómoda. CASI todo perfecto: habría sido mucho mejor si el domingo a las 08.00, la hora de marcharnos, hubiéramos tenido agua caliente en la casa. Una ducha fría de despedida no es lo mejor, pero la casa merece la pena.
Owner’s reply Sentimos mucho que tuvieran un problema con el agua caliente de la ducha, pero debió de ser una averia momentanea, algun fallo de la electricidad, del que no tuvimos conocimiento. En la casa (alquiler completo) siempre dejamos un telefono de contacto para que nos localicen en caso de que surja algun problema, pero la verdad es que no hemos tenido noticia de este problema hasta que nos llego esta opinión de Juan. ¡Lo sentimos mucho!.
Hemos estado 6 personas un fin de semana y hemos estado encantados. La casa esta muy bonita, acogedora, y muy limpia, ademas equipada con todos los detalles, ¡¡¡hasta juguetes para los niños!!! La persona que nos atendio en la casa muy amable. Todo estaba perfecto.

Estuvimos el fin de semana pasado 4 personas (2 hab) y la verdad es que la casa está muy bien, pero lo mejor son la cantidad de detalles que tiene la casa, desde la vajilla toda a juego con las iniciales de la casa hasta los detalles de los baños como en los hoteles. El salón enorme, y lástima que fuera Junio y no pudiéramos encender esa pedazo de chimenea.
