Villares de YELTES is an enchanting little Village placed over a lovely stretch of the Yeltes-River halfway between Salamanca and the marvellous town of Ciudad Rodrigo.
The type of countryside you overlook from the house is called "dehesa", which means: Endless pastures shadowed by oaks and stoneoaks.
It’s an ancient ecological system: food, shadow and protection of cold for cattle, horses and black iberian pigs. The "dehesa" provides firewood and charcoal for the fireplaces of the few tiny villages in the region.. Big granite rocks in the dehesa and the Yeltes –river.
Houses, churches and celtic settlements are built of granite and slate. The Campo-Charro, The Francia-mountain range and the Duero-valley, the rivers Yeltes, Huebra and Águeda are one of the last refuges for lynx, foxes, badgers, wolves, otters, black storks, herons, vultures and eagles in Western Europe.
The Palacio Viejo is a 15th century-mansion which has been restored by the ownwer himself preserving its ancient enchantment.

Wir freuen uns jedes Jahr auf unseren Aufenthalt in Villares. Dieses Jahr waren wir zum vierten mal in einem der beiden Häuser von Jürgen Köhler. Da wir nur zu dritt sind, ist das kleinere Haus für uns groß genug, aber wir

LLevamos años visitando este rincón de España sin cansarnos, lo tiene todo, mil lugares que merecen la pena visitar, es como si no pasara el tiempo, afortunadamente. La casa es una pasada, merece la pena valorar todo el trabajo invertido por su dueño para mantener lo esencial. Es acogedora, con muchísimo encanto... NO OS LA PERDAÍS¡¡

Un lugar para volver a la España de hace 50 años, pero con todas las comodidades de nuestros días. Sus paredes están cargadas de la historia de Castilla... y esconden muchos secretos, seguro que el dueño de la casa os contará algunos de ellos. No os olvideis de fijaros en la reja de la entrada...
