Interesting Places
Arcos de la Frontera is one of the prettiest villages in Spain, situated at the top of a high rock on wich are perched a mass of white houses as well as an Arab medieval castle suggesting the magnificent past of such a romantic and legendary town wich belonged to the Arab Qora Court of Medina Sidonia.
The town, declared a National Monument of Tourist Interest, has an artistic and historical old quarter on the edge of an impressive rock overlooking the Guadalete river. Thus, Arcos can be considered one of the most beatiful towns in Spain.
Typical andalousian house, built in the purest Arcos style, whittewashed walls, wrought ironwork windows, ocher roof tiles, flowerpots on the ledges and a beutiful central courtyard, furnished with coffe-tables and chairs and plenty of plants.
In the heart of the historical and artistic old town of Arcos, part of the Cloister Convent of Nuns was transformed into the Hotel El Convento.
In this peaceful place, amongst churches, palaces and other interesting buildings, our guests enjoy the serenity of the town´s ancient beauty, a monument to light.
Arcos de la Frontera is located at 80 km from Seville and is an ideal spot for relaxation, anjoying the beauty of the surrounding countryside: the Doñana Nature Reserve, the Grazalema National Park, the Beaches of Cádiz, the wine cellars of Jerez and its famous School of Equestrian Art.
Here you can admire the fine breeding of wild bulls and horses of pure Spanish blood, experience Easter week in Andalusia, the Carnivals in Cadiz or enjoy the differente Flamenco fairs and festivals, each eith an unique artistic expression which has made Spain famous throughout the world.
Arcos de la Frontera, designated as a Historic Artistic Monument in 1962, still retains the narrow, winding streets of its arabic tradition whilst the palatial houses are evidence of the important influence of the Castillian aristocracy.
