Laroya is found over Macale, more than 800 metres high, and on the northern slope of the Sierra de los Filabres (mountain range). This is a lovely terracing-shaped small town all over the slope of the mountain.. The wonderful view of this white village stands out thanks to the green landscape that surrounds it.. It is the smallest town in Almería as it has about 80 inhabitants; perhaps this is the reason why its customs are still the same and their way of life is so slow and peaceful.
Cortijo el Picachito (farmhouse) is located at the entrance of Laroya: under it, an olive grove and the river; over it, almond trees, brooms and indigenous vegetation; opposite it, there is a great amount of kermes oaks that are growing more and more and taking control of the mountain. This building is in accordance with the other ones in this area; it is nearly 200 years old and has been restored for rural tourism.. Its decoration mixes the beauty and warmth from the antique furniture with the comfort from the modern things.

Cascada del Rio Laroya (Waterfall of the River Laroya). This is a thirty-minutes stroll along the irrigation channel that goes from the town as far as the Balsa del Común (pool) and the mill skirting round some parts of the mountain; you will see two waterfalls in the river. Cortijos del Reul Alto (farmhouses). This is a one-hour-and-thirty minutes stroll along a paved path; you will see some deep-green orchards, old olive trees and holm oaks, white almond trees in blossom, brown steep slopes with smartly-laid stones Walk towards the hills
When we are in the land, we make some farming tasks like picking almonds and olives, sowing potatoes and vegetables ; of course, we invite you with pleasure to learn how to carry out these tasks.

Estuvimos 7 días en la casa llamada el Terengue (6 plazas)y nuestra opinión es muy favorable. Fuimos con nuestros hijos (de 4 y 2 años). Los padres de Antonia estuvieron muy atentos con los niños. La casa está muy nueva y decorada con mucho gusto. La verdad es que nos hicieron sentir como en casa. Felicidades para Antonia y sus padres. Os lo recomiendo.

Pasamos 2 semanas de incanto allì (Ago 07) con nuestro perrito. El sitio es optimo para descansar y con la piscina y restaurante al lado, es bueno para quedarse y relajarse. Si tienes gana de salir, en una hora estas en muchos sitios interesantes y bonitos.
La Sra Antonia sabe cuidar los clientes y no faltaba nada, incluso los detalles. La casa es muy preciosa y limpia. La gente de Laroya es muy muy amable y te hace sentir como en casa.

un lugar estupendo, sobre todo para la gente que buscamos la tranquilidad y el poder descansar por la noche, muy agradecito el fresquito de la tarde-noche y esos relajantes bañitos en la piscina. Sin duda alguna muchas felicidades señorita Antonia por sus sabrosas comidas y lo bien arreglado que lo tienes todo, un abrazo y como ya te comente, volveremos a vernos pronto. besos

Hola. He pasado este fin de año en el Cortijo Picachico. La casa es acogedora y los dueños, tanto Antonia como su marido, son muy amables, al igual que los padres de Antonia que viven cerca del cortijo. El pueblo es precioso, Macael también, y los habitantes siempre dispuestos a ayudar. Lo único que en este cortijo, el salón es un poco oscuro porque no tiene ventanas y el agua caliente tarda en llegar. Por lo demás, todo bien. Incluso, las uvas las tomamos en la plaza del pueblo con las campanad

Respecto a los fallos, decirte que en una semana habrá que entrar con gafas de sol al salón, bien sabes que estamos de obra y arreglaremos ese problema así como el del agua, que en vez de tardar 3 minutos en llegar calentita llegará en... no lo sé, estamos instalando el agua caliente sanitaria por medio de energía solar para así contribuir al ahorro energético.
Reiteraros que vuestro tiramisú estaba exquisito.

Hemos pasado una semana en la casita El Mirador. Es pequeñita pero bien equipada y muy confortable. Antonia, la dueña, es una bellísima persona, muy amable y atenta. ¡En su mesón se come de maravilla! Muy recomendable cualquier plato. Laroya es un pueblo muy bonito perfecto para descansar y alejarse del estrés urbano.
Sólo queda ya dar las gracias a Antonia, por lo bien que nos ha tratado, y por los platos tan ricos que nos ha sevido en su mesón.
Seguro que algún día volveremos. Hasta pronto.
