We advance booked 3 nights at Casa Grande with deposit via bank transfer and dinner the first night. On arrival at 4pm the CR was not open but eventually attracted the owners attention in their house adjoining. Conce & Antonio were very welcoming and showed us to our room. Very beautifully done out.So are the others. We got the full tour as the place was empty. We unpacked and decided to explore the area before dinner. We were then told no dinner as the "cook is sick"!! Options were (i) go to one of two bars in village or (ii) starve. We chose the former. Both opened at 9pm ish. First stank and only offered some mouldy looking tapas. Second offered tortilla,tortilla or tortilla!! We then drove a 30 km round trip to a hotel-Although their restaurant shut we got and excellent menu dia in the bar. Breakfast next morning was pretty average and we left afterwards and moved on with our tour. Great rooms,lousy village poor service- They could have phoned re: the cook etc. NOT GOOD!!! [less]

Expect to have to call the very freindly and helpful owner to be let in if you haven't pre-arranged the time of arrival - and to let her know a time of departure so she can get the keys from you. The village is very quiet, but has the essentials. Try Restaurant Las Pintas on the northern side for a friendly owner and good meals. It's an easy 15 mins drive into Caceres. [less]

Very nice place to stay and Carmen is a very good host and helpfull - the surrounding and landscape around Valverde are very beautuful. The dinners in the restaurant are good quality. Thanks again for your hospitality and hope to see you one day in our casa rural in Flandes. Only the suite room needs a little bit more comfort in bathroom.

Carmen vous êtes une hôte superbe et on à passez 4 jours formidable chez vous à Valverde. L'environement et l'architecture de votre hotel est super - seulement on manque encore une peu plus de comfort dans le salle de bain et frigo dans la chambre. Aussi vos répas sont bonne et aussi le petit déjeuner avec une jus d'orange " sans parolles 5***** " grace a votre petit sécret.

Great location, very quiet situation, but basic, shabby, dark rooms with plaster peeling off the walls, and old furniture/beds. Breakfast very poor . Expensive prices, saving grace was the location.

I stayed for 8 nights in March 2009. The rooms are large, clean and comfortable. Juan and Belen are very helpful and genuinely friendly. They both speak very good english and made me feel at home. The breakfast and dinner are very good. There is good birding around the hotel and in the tranquil gardens, where Kimi the dog seemed to enjoy my company. Juan identified a few good birding places that I would not have found by myself. The trip to Monfrague was about an hour. I plan to go again soon. [less]

We had a great weekend! The house is spectacular - better than a Parador. Hand-made sheets and curtains, specificallly designed furniture: exquisite. More than anyone would expect. I highly recommend it!
