Situated in Portada de los Arribes del Duero, in the municipality of Pereruela de Sayago, we find the Molino de Bárate, an old flour factory from the beginning of the last century which will take you back in time, but at the same time you will not have to go without the 21st Century comforts.
This unique building preserves its original structure and a large part of its machinery that was originally used for converting grain into flour.
Strategically situated for all those who wish to visit the Sayago region of Zamora and its surrounding area, the Molino de Bárate is the ideal point of departure for the different routes which will enable you to get to know the beauty of these lands.

We received a warm welcome and a guided tour in their house/mill that is more like a museum. If you wish, the owner maps out a route with fantastic views (like the Douro with eagles above) , roman churches, ... Of course they know where to eat the best tapa´s in Zamora. For the next 10 days , we did not eat better ! Their english is perfect, the lady is German. The rooms are very comfortable and warmly decorated.. Only 10 meters from our room a couple of storks had their nest.

Een plaats om nooit te vergeten
After putting our luggage in our room, we were promptly offered a local wine and lovely cake, made by Margaret (and yes, we have the recipe now...) In the meantime, Celestine prepared detailed maps with the most interesting places of the area. Late in the evening, when we came back from the sightseeing and visiting Zamora, they offered us again some wonderful stuff to sleep: "Valium 5 or 10cc". We can assure you, it worked well.
Our advice: if you ever are in

On our first visit to the region we were welcomed as family. It really was special. The maps came out and we were guided on a remarkable journey around the local area.. Lovely accomodation, very peaceful. We could not have been made more welcome. One to be recommended!

Margaret and Celestine are the perfect hosts. We arrived after a long day travelling and we were immediately invited in and promptly offered a drink! Whilst availing of this kind offer Celestine proceeded to tell us about the virtues of Zamora and surrounding areas. His local knowledge of that area, of which he was free to willingly share, was very impressive. He even had prepared his own maps to guide you round places of special interest. In Zamora he was able to tell us of the easiest place

Hemos pasado tres dias inolvidables.
