The owner´s comments

The Casa Grande is a Rural Rental House with a category of “Tres Espigas” (Three Ears of Wheat), which has quite original characteristics after the restoration work carried out on an old Country House - which according to local records - dates back to the 16th century.

It is situated in the Main Square or Plaza Mayor of the village, next to the Parish Church.

The accommodation offers a total net useable floor area of 970 sq m which has been carefully restored, preserving as much as possible the original spirit and style of the house, where we have kept not only the rooms, doors, locks, doorknockers, etc., but also the name with which it is known in the area: La Casa Grande.

It includes twelve rooms distributed around six different areas or independent apartments, on three floors. There is a kitchen, dining room, a lounge with the television, DVD and videos, another lounge with a low fireplace, library and bar-cafeteria for non-smokers, a lounge with a fireplace, bar, library, a cosy area for quiet conversations, games and music in a smoking area, and an open-air patio..

Activities
  • Guided activities:
    • Hiking,
    • Horseriding routes, in carts, by motorbike, 4x4
    • Climbing
    • Caving
    • Hunting
    • Fishing
    • Bird watching in the Talayuelas Lagoon
  • Activities for children:
    • Visits to farms
    • Afternoon excursions to the different water springs: Las Canalejas, Los Cubillejos, Fuente Jiménez, Fuente del Berro, etc.
Interesting Places
  • La Casa Grande is located in the Plaza Mayor of a lovely Castillian village that still keeps alive all its traditions and the typical folklore of the Cuenca mountain range, which we have the privilege of keeping very active and authentic, and which can be enjoyed all year-round. Examples of this include the “caridad“ of San Sebastián in January, the carnival in February, the arrival of spring and festivals of San José in March, the “Judas” in April, the “mayos y las rondas” in May, the festivals of the patron saint San Antonio in June, the crop collecting in July, the cultural weeks in August, the grape collecting and open-air festivals of Virgen de Tejeda in September, the famous collecting of “hongos” or mushrooms in October and November, and at Christmas the making of traditional cakes and the pig slaughter or “matanza” of December.
  • The natural privileged setting surrounding the village which, in the case of Talayuelas, is made up of outstanding pine forests, a source of extremely high therapeutic qualities, its magnificent scenery, the huge mountains that enable you to climb from 1,000 to over 1,450 m above sea level in just a few kilometres -, caves, river gorges, viewpoints overlooking Castille, Aragón, towards Valencia, strategic fortresses at a time in which there were frontiers and wars and now a natural and cultural step between different regions and districts. Mines and ruins, archaeological remains of several very important civilisations such as the Romans. Lagoons that are an obligatory resting place for migratory birds from Africa on their long trip to Europe. The autochthonous vegetation of great botanical interest.. The wide variety of minerals such as iron, of which we can still see today the remains of the ancient Roman mines.. All this is waiting to be discovered in many different ways: on foot- along the magnificent green hiking routes-, by bicycle and motorbike- along winding and steep paths set between vineyards and pine trees -, by car - thanks to the new forest roads that allow you to crown the highest peaks and reach the breathtaking viewpoints of “el Pulpitejo”, “el Tormo”, “Peña Roya”, etc.- and of course, on horseback and by horse-drawn cart which have been rescued from the past.
  • Also, in a radius of just a few kilometres, we find the ruins of the medieval Moya Castle, the prehistoric paintings of Villar del Humo, the Tejeda Monastery, the ox-bows of Gabriel, the Jabalambre mountain range, the Contreras Reservoir, the wine region of Uriel and Requena, and less than an hour away, the airport of Manises and the port of Valencia.
  • In other words, this is a strategic spot between Castille, Aragon and Valencia, which offers a wide range of possibilities for all tastes and ages, in the heart of the lands of Castille, surrounded by friendly mountain folk.

  5.00  Muy recomendable, by: Ulises García  -  usr281909,  04/Jul/2008

Saludos y seguit igual.

Irene y Salva
