Interesting Places
Beaches and mountains: We are surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery! in 35 minutes you can be on Aguete beach, and the Morazzo peninsula with all its hidden, picturesque coves and white, unspoilt beaches.
Santiago de Compostela is less than an hour away, with its cathedral commemorating the final resting place of St James, and where thousands of pilgrims every year come to pay homage.
10 minutes away is Sabucedo - home to the Rapa des Bestas, where every year in the first weekend in July the wild horses that have been grazing in the high mountains are gathered. Watching the herds come down the paths and roads is the start of a grand fiesta that lasts all week.
Pontevedra is home to many ancient buildings, and during the 2nd weekend in September the old quarter is taken over by the Feira Franca - an excuse to dress up in medieval costume and take part in many street parties.
There are so many interesting places to visit and things to do - let us know what your interests are and we will do our best to point you in the right direction.
From Santiago de Compostela, take the C541 to A Estrada. Continue on C541 direction Ourense, until you reach Codeseda. A few kilometres after Codeseda, take the right turn signposted Quireza. The road follows the mountain side for 2-3 kms, Casa Quireza is on the right towards the end of Quireza village.
From Porto or Vigo take the N550 to Pontevedra, then take the N541 to Ourense. The town Cerdedo is c.15 km along this road. Just before Cerdedo, at Serrapio, is a road off to the left, signposted Bugarin.
Follow this road to Bugarin, then take a right. You will come into the "Parroqia de Quiresa", drive through Fondos village before reaching Quireza. Casa Quireza is on the left at the beginning of the village.
We just returned from a trip to Spain where we were fortunate enough to stay a night at Casa Quireza in Pontevedra. What a great way to see the region of Galicia! The hosts, Chris and Margaret, were so welcoming and helpful and what a wonderful gourmet meal they served for dinner. They arranged a tour of a local winery for us and the personal tour of the lovely village given by Chris was certainly one of our best memories of our Spain trip.. Our only regret was that we stayed only one night!

And that it was, they were very welcoming making it feel like a home from home with excellent spacious and clean rooms over looking a wonderful picturesque landscape. A wonderful variety of activities are available from the energetic mountain walking or day trips to the beach and local castles, to nice relaxing days by the pool with a book in the fantastically sunny weather. My favourite thing of the whole holiday was the food with local fresh fish and to die for desserts courtesy of the residen

Enhorabuena Chris y Margaret!
Fantástica!!,
