Interesting Places
The district of Goierri: lies at the entrance to the Aralar and Aizgorri.. Nature Reserves. Both mountain ranges offer large wooded areas of beech trees, with mountain pastures, which is where we get the well-known Idiazabal cheese. The excursions, both on foot and by mountain bike offer many magnificent possibilities..
The traditional Feria de Ordizia (on every Wednesday of the year) with a wide variety of local produce, in the municipality of Zerain, with its interesting cultural and natural heritage.
Legazpi, where we find all the culture of iron, with its ironworks in Mirandola (dating back to 1335) as the main attraction.
La Antigua Sanctuary in Zumarraga, dating back to the beginning of the 13th century, and built in a perfect combination of stone and wood.
The main economic activity of Zerain revolves around agriculture. Surrounding the square we find some very interesting monuments: the Santa María Church, the Jauregi House-tower and the Ethnographical museum. Close to the monumental centre is the chapel of San Blas and the prison (Casa Ostatu), and a short distance away we find the Larraondo lumber mill and the Aizpea mines.
We are situated in the "heart of Euskadi", 35 minutes from Donosti-S.Sebastian, 45 minutes from Iruña-Pamplona and Gasteiz-Vitoria and 90 minutes from Bilbo-Bilbao.
From Donosti, go towards Gastiz, going through Beasain, and take the exit towards Zegama.
